What is Corona Virus – (COVID-19)?

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a new virus that had not been previously identified in humans. It’s a virus strain that was first identified in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China, which has only spread in people since December 2019. The virus causes respiratory illness (like the flu) with symptoms such as a cough, fever and in more severe cases, pneumonia.

Over the past couple of weeks, it’s become clear that the world is facing an unprecedented challenge with even many cases of death across the globe. However, we at Mak-Migro Farms LTD, send our heartfelt wishes to those affected by the virus, both directly and indirectly and wish them a speedy recovery, we urge you to take adequate precautions to protect yourself and loved ones from the unfortunate incident that has enveloped the globe.

The new corona virus is spreading in many cities, and as long as it is spreading at this rate, there is a risk of getting it. You may not show symptoms right away. People become ill between two and 14 days after infection, or in an average of about 5 days, according to most estimates.

However, the COVID-19 virus affects different people in different ways. COVID-19 is a respiratory disease and most infected people will develop mild to moderate symptoms and recover without requiring special treatment.  People who have underlying medical conditions and those over 60 years old have a higher risk of developing severe disease and death.

Common symptoms include

  • Fever
  • Tiredness
  • Dry cough.

Other symptoms include

  • Shortness of breath
  • Aches and pains
  • Sore throat
  • And very few people will report diarrhoea, nausea or a runny nose.

People with mild symptoms who are otherwise healthy should self-isolate and contact their medical provider or a COVID-19 information line for advice on testing and referral. People with fever, cough or difficulty breathing should call their doctor and seek medical attention.
